Milestones

Here are two pictures from today. In the first one, Mariana is breaking her board in our Taekwondo test this morning. She, Isaac, and I earned our blue belts today, which means we are halfway to the black belt. The second picture is at the airport as we say goodbye to Sam, who is on his way back to BYU.

Old Friends Visit

David Sprague and two of his children came to visit us this past weekend. Rachael Sprague had just gotten back from BYU Idaho and wanted to see Sam before he left for BYU. We had a fun weekend playing games and talking. We went for a walk along the riverfront and Mariana learned about centrifugal force and gravity.

Today we got Isaac's ACT scores and found that he got a composite score of 35!

Tenative Reunion Plans

Ok, this is what Denisa and I have discussed. We talked about three days, so that is what we have planned for.
We figured we could do one day in Fort Worth at the Stockyards: www.fortworthstockyards.org Then we could have a picnic dinner or lunch at the Fort Worth Nature Preserve: www.fwnaturecenter.org

One day we would visit the Dallas World Aquarium and Zoo: www.dwazoo.com
And ride the free trolleys to get an overview of downtown Dallas. If we wanted to splurge, we could eat at one of the many restaurants downtown, or just grab a quick fast food lunch. We usually take the light rail down there as it is easier, but if you'd rather we drive, that's not a problem. Actually, paying for parking might be cheaper than buying rail tickets for all of us!

That same day we could also do some other downtown things like the Old Red Courthouse: www.oldred.org Or just explore, or just come home and enjoy each other's company.

As far as food is concerned, I think we will could do what we've done in the past: Flint and Anette take one main meal, Mom and Dad another, and Denisa and I will take care of all the rest! They would probably need to be fairly easy and quick meals to put together as we will be running around during the day.

There are other things to see and do around here, but these are just the ones we've picked. If you want to do something else, just let us know. Our feelings won't be hurt. :-) For instance, if you have your heart set on seeing Southfork Ranch (of "Dallas" fame), we can do that! :-) It's actually just a few minutes from our house.

Flint, do you have your tickets yet? Please let us know the dates and times.
Mom and Dad, do you plan on seeing anything else in Texas, like the Alamo? If so, that would need to be an overnight trip. I'd love to go there again if you are up to it. It's been awhile since we've been to San Antonio.

Spring break

Flint,

You need to get out of the artic area your living in and come up north. We had just about 1 inch of snow and it melted off by noon. Instead of snow we got about an inch of rain. The mountains above us got snow down to the base but we were spared this go around.

Spring Break in Utah

School has been out all week for spring break. Anette and I were going to go toLake Powell, but canceled once we saw the weather forecasts. This is what we woke up to this morning. It was 8 to 14 inches, depending on the specific location.

I think all of this is designed just to keep me from my first fishing trip of the year. I actually mowed the lawn a week ago.

Did you get the postcards Lynette and I sent you?

This is a picture from a homeschool day at our local historic farm. The girls are making candles. Rachel wasn't sure she wanted to do it at first, but she decided it was okay in the end. The girl in between Rachel and Lynette is Alex. She and Lynette take horseback riding lessons together. They have become really good friends.

James' Spring Formal

Around here they have an LDS prom for juniors and seniors. James went with some homeschool friends and friends from church. He sort of had a date. A bunch of kids met at a friend's house for a pre-party, then went to the dance. I think mostly they paired off for the pictures!
He could go to the prom for Richland, but he's not interested in paying $75 to go to a Vegas-themed dance.

New family pictures

After conference on Sunday we decided to do some family photos, because with Jake and Lindsay moving and Creed going on a mission, we will soon run out of opportunities. We went down the street to the developmental center park across from the temple. Luckily the weather cooperated and we had semi-warm temperatures and some sunshine.

Creed had his first soccer game of the new season Monday evening. His team played really well and won 2-1.
