New Calling

Just in time for Samuel's return, I have recieved a new calling to the Stake High Council. It will be a good learning experience for me, I am sure, and give me a new view of how the church works. (And plenty of driving experience.)

Congratulations Newell, we were wondering when that was going to come. You will enjoy most of it. Get a couple talks in your pocket. Hopefully the gas will not go to $5 per gallon. You will do a great job. Mom.

Congratulations or condolances. I'm tired of eight hours of church meetings on Sundays. We have only been on the 1 p.m. schedule for two weeks and I already hate it. I love the Gospel, but hate the meetings.

Jake has been a little worried about the callings he MIGHT get in the mission field (New Mexico maybe Wyoming). He has threatened to put on a 'show' so they won't call him to anything that would take him away from one of his 500 hobbies.

When my kids were young I was so busy in the church I often felt like my kids were missing out on the best Sunday hair doos, clean faces and matching clothes BUT if that little bit of service I gave while my kids were young has anything to do with why they turned out SO GREAT I would do it all over again.

Flint, That's one joy of living out here in the "mission field" -- Only 1 ward per building and the same schedule every year. Of course that means I may have to drive two hours to get to some of the units I go to visit.

The ward choir director has enlisted the bishop to pressure me into participating. I actually don't mind the practice or singing, but they meet at 9 a.m.--before bishopric meeting. That means my Sunday would go from 9 to about 5:30. I figure it is about three hours too long as it is. No one seems to realize that the animals still want to eat and drink on Sunday.
