A little bit of good news

Yesterday Cally and Jed learned that the judge granted the motion for a mistrial on the hearing to determine whether or not Harvey's biological father can retain his parental rights. The judge also recused himself from the trial. This is essentially an admission of impropriety on the part of the judge. The retrial is set for Feb. 7.

There will still be a hearing on Oct. 29 for the father's motion seeking custody. But it seems unlikely that he would get custody when they still haven't determined whether or not he has properly retained his parental rights. Cally and Jed will still be going to Idaho with their attorney and we still are planning on having a family fast on the 28th.

In the meantime, two underage girls are now pressing charges against the birth father for sexual assault. We hope that proceeds quickly because that would also lessen the likelihood that any judge would grant custody or visitation rights.

Obviously a lot of uncertainty remains, but it is nice to finally get a little bit of good news. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. We really love little Harvey and we want him to be part of our eternal family.
