Samuel's Mission E-mail August 11, 2008

Everyone:
Well, I'm still here in Downey with Elder Bird. However, there have been a couple of changes. For one thing, we're now in a smaller apartment (without air conditioning--fortunately it hasn't been too warm here) that's more central to our area. The other thing is that we're now on bikes! Hopefully this means I'll get in better shape.
As for our week, on Tuesday Elder Bird's kidney stones started acting up really badly (have I mentioned that he has kidney stones?), so we weren't able to get out and do much. Actually, that's been the story of this week. We did get our transfer information a bit early so I could go out and buy a bike.
On Wednesday, we moved apartments and did our normal service at the care home. In the evening we worked a bit more on checking some former investigators--we've been finding out a lot of them have moved. At least we're thinning out our area book for the next missionaries that are here. We also had our correlation meeting.
On Thursday we had weekly planning and checked a few more former investigators. On Friday we had our zone meeting, where we talked about a fireside we're working on putting together the 14th of September with the Downey Stake. We also taught Rosie (she now has been taught almost all the recent convert lessons) and checked more former investigators. While we were riding around, we ran across someone's passport lieing in the street and turned it in at the police station.
On Saturday Elder Bird was feeling really bad. We did get out in the evening (it seems to hit him worst between noon and five) and checked some more former investigators. On Sunday we had our normal church meetings and we managed to tract for a little while.
Today we worked on some posters to advertise the fireside.
Well, that's it. I'm trying to think of something witty or deeply philisophical to say, but I'm just drawing a blank, so I'll just stop now.
Elder Samuel Stephens
