Everyone:
Well, it's another week in Downey. This week has been a bit better than last week, so let's get to the details:
On Tuesday of last week, we tracted for a good while. While doing so, my bike's front tire got stolen (what in the world can you do with just the front tire of a bike?), but fortunately the members we had dinner with that evening just happened to have a spare bike that they never used that just happened to have the same size tires, so it ended up being OK. The Lord takes good care of us. We do make sure to lock up all the tires now, in addition to our bikes.
On Wednesday, we did some more tracting, we did our normal service at the care home, and we worked more on inviting people to the musical fireside we're having on the 14th of September. Have I mentioned that I'm in charge of handling the media for that? I'm quite excited about that fact--I get to touch a computer legally for some thing other than e-mail!
On Thursday, we had our normal weekly planning, and then Elder Bird had a doctor appointment. In the evening we tracted a bit more. On Friday we had our normal district meeting, and then we had correlation meeting for the Santa Fe Springs branch. However, that afternoon Elder Bird started hurting particularly badly, so it was hard for us to get out. We did, however, get out eventually and visited a couple members to talk to them about inviting people to the fireside. In the evening we had our Downey 1st correlation meeting.
On Saturday we had our mission-wide Apartment Deep Clean day, so we spent most of the day scrubbing every scrubbable inch of our apartment. It was quite a bit of work. On Sunday, of course, we had our normal church meetings, and then in the afternoon Elder Bird was hurting a lot, but in the evening we did manage to get out to street contact a bit.
Well, hopefully Elder Bird will get through all of this quickly. It's really been hard on him, since he feels like he's hindering the work. It's pretty hard to want to get out and work but to hurt so bad you don't feel like you can (or at least don't feel like you could smile to people at the door). I guess it'll make us appreciate it more when we can get back to a more normal work routine.
